By becoming an Honorary Member of PHAM USA, you become immediately connected to the indigenous artisans and their communities in Paraguay.
Your Honorary Membership will allow Paraguayan artisans to have a Cultural Center and Artisan Village where they can gather, practice and preserve their skills and abilities, as well as sell their products.
As an Honorary Member of PHAM USA, you will have the opportunity to participate with Paraguayan artisans in special programs.
You will also have the opportunity to purchase the handicrafts of Paraguayan artisans at a fair market price.
How does an Honorary Membership in PHAM USA allow me to connect with the Paraguayan artisans?
Each month you will receive an electronic newsletter, providing an update on the work of various artisan groups who are working with the PHAM Tava Guarani Artisan Village in the Del Lago Living Museum and Cultural Center, as well as the Paraguayan Artisan Export Program. The newsletter will also include a profile of a different artisan family each month. You will see directly how your honorary membership funds are helping the Paraguayan artisans to improve their quality of life.
You will also be offered the opportunity to join other Honorary Members in artisan and other special immersion experiences in Paraguay!
As an Honorary Member, you and your family will have the opportunity to travel to Paraguay at a reduced rate and to stay in the Del Lago Living Museum and Cultural Center in San Bernardino, Paraguay.
The Del Lago Living Museum and Cultural Center is housed in the Hotel del Lago, located directly on the famous Lake Ypacarai in San Bernardino, Paraguay.
It is the new home of PHAM USA and PHAM Paraguay!
The Del Lago Living Museum and Cultural Center also provides space for PHAM artisans to present and sell their handicrafts through its Tava Guarani Artisan Village. Here indigenous Paraguayan artisans will have a special village to prepare and sell their handicrafts.
In addition the Del Lago Living Museum and Cultural Center provides training and support for artisans involved with the Paraguayan Artisan Export Program.
During an Artisan Immersion Experience, you and your family can stay in the Del Lago Living Museum and Cultural Center. Surrounded by many artisan communities, the Hotel del Lago is being restored to its original 1888 charm and dignity.
By participating in an Artisan Immersion Experience, you will be able to immerse in the culture, art and languages (Spanish and Guarani) of the indigenous Paraguayan people. You will also work with the artisans in a “hands on” experience, learning to work with the artisans in preparing their crafts, building their communities and assisting families to better their lifestyle and live with dignity.
Your stay at the Del Lago Living Museum and Cultural Center will allow you to have a “home base” for any activities or connections you might want to make in Paraguay. Located just 50 kilometres from the capital city of Asuncion, it is a tranquil, tropical paradise for any experience.
What if I can’t travel to Paraguay? How will I participate?
As an Honorary Member of PHAM USA, you will also gain access to an exclusive web site that will allow you to engage with other members on line inside a virtual model of the Del Lago Living Museum and Cultural Center as well as its Tava Guarani Artisan Village and Paraguayan Artisan Export Program. You will be assigned a unique password and login and you can enter the site and move through the Center and interact with others who are online. This Del Lago Living Museum virtual world will provide you with the opportunity to view the work of the artisans and interact with other honorary members 24 hours a day! Through this site you will also have the ability to purchase, from our exclusive Paraguayan Artisan Export Program through approved vendors.
You will also have access to a special portion of the PHAM web site that will provide photos and video interviews with artisans, their families and communities.
You will also have the opportunity to purchase special artisan handicrafts at a special rate.
How can I help individual artisans and their families?
One of PHAM´s special programs is the Artisan Family Sponsorship Program, which provides the opportunity for you and your family to sponsorship an artisan family and their children.
These families and their children will be part of the Tava Guarani Artisan Village Project.
Through your sponsorship, you will receive a photo of your sponsored family and child, as well as a profile of the family and its artisan specialty.
You will receive bi-annual videos and photos of your sponsored family or child.
Your sponsored family or child will receive appropriate assistance on a monthly basis for health, education and PHAM artisan programs.
FOUNDING HONORARY MEMBER -- $10,000 tax deductible donation
As a Founding Honorary Member, your membership will provide you with a ten-year connection to PHAM artisans, their families and communities in Paraguay until 2016.
